When
constructing a new drive or revamping an existing one you will need a
compacted base of either scalpings or crushed concrete preferably to a
depth of at least six inches. We advise you use scalpings as this is a
good material to work with as it binds together. The binding dust in it
also gives a very flat and level surface to put gravel straight on or
to lay block pavers on. Gravel of your choice can then be laid on the
surface approximately 1.5 inches deep. If too much gravel is laid down
it may cause vehicles to sink and wheel spin. You will also have trouble
pulling a wheelie bin or cycling on it. If your drive comes up to your
house you should ensure that you have at least two bricks depth clear
from the top of the gravel or block pavers to where the damp course of
your house is. |
